At the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Susan majored in communications and journalism. While she was in school, she found that her true passion existed in roles where she was able to advocate and listen to those around her. This then led to her attending graduate school at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire where she received her Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling.
Since that time, Susan has spent 14 years working as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She has worked in multiple settings with a broad range of clients that all dealt with many different kinds of struggles and mental health related issues. All of her past clients were ultimately seeking strategies and coping skills (among many other things) that could help them work towards living a happier and more fulfilling life.
Susan loves this work, and she believes that while we are all unique and have our own experiences that shape who we are, everyone has the capacity to change. In this instance, change being loosely defined in that it could be changing your perspective, changing the choices you make, and hopefully, in the end, changing your life.
